Match Report
Dubai Dragons vs Dubai I
05 March 2010

Doha started the match with the wind in their faces and were quickly out of the blocks putting some sustained pressure on the Dragons defense resulting in the award of a penalty in the 11th minute to Doha which Marty Veale narrowly missed. Despite being camped in the Dragons half for the first quarter of the match Doha failed to capitalize on this and were eventually punished. In the 25th minute Dragons were awarded a penalty, and with the wind behind they slotted the penalty to go 3-0 up. Five minutes later, with only their third foray into the Doha half the Dragons centre broke through the Doha defense to score a try which was duly converted. Four minutes later the Dragons slotted another long range penalty to go 13-0 up. From the resulting kick-off Winston Cowie was yellow carded for a miss-timed tackle and with only one minute to go before half time Dozi Dinobi was the second Doha player to see the yellow card. Dragons took advantage of this and scored a try in the corner on the stroke of half time which went unconverted.

Half Time Score: 18 - 0 to Dubai Dragons

Despite being reduced to thirteen men Doha were the first to strike in the second half with a superbly worked try from Lindsay Fitzgerald but Veale failed to convert the conversion. The Dragons were quick to respond scoring a converted try in the 46th minute. With the wind at their backs Doha were looking to utilize this advantage, but sadly they were unable to do so, only managing to score two tries through Jacob Lawrence and Dozi Dinobi with Veale failing to convert both tries. Doha nearly scored in the last minute which would have secured a bonus point but Dinobi didn’t see the overlap and the chance was gone.

Full Time Score: 25 - 15 to Dubai Dragons
