With the wind in their faces Doha knew that if they stood a chance of winning then they would have to contain Bahrain and keep the score down in the first half. Doha were clearly fired up and shot out of the blocks with early pressure, in the 2nd minute Cotter missed a penalty kick but atoned 5 minutes later with a successful penalty kick. Bahrain replied soon afterwards with an excellently struck penalty kick from just inside their own half followed 10 minutes later with a try which went unconverted, From the resulting restart Doha suffered a setback with Fitzgerald being yellow carded, however Doha contained Bahrain to a penalty kick before Fitzgerald returned. Bahrain scored a second unconverted try in the 34th minute but Doha’s fighting spirit was rewarded with a superb try from Coomer just before the half-time whistle, Cotter missed the conversion. 16 - 8 to Bahrain at half time.
With the wind at their backs Doha were hoping to capitalize on this and put pressure on the Bahrain defence, unfortunately due to some unforced errors, and three costly mistakes Bahrain were able to take a stranglehold of the game scoring three converted tries in the second half. Doha showed their pluckiness, fight and determination with Winston Cowie scoring a try in the last 10 minutes of the game which was duly converted by Cotter. Final score 37 - 15 to Bahrain.
